Frequently Asked Questions

Costa Rica Surf Adventures for Women

  1. Costa Rica Surf Camps for Women How is the weather during the surf adventures? And do I need a wetsuit?
There are two seasons in Costa Rica, the "dry" season which is December - April and the "green" season which is May - November. During our "green" season surf camps, it typically rains once a day in the mid-afternoons. Don't let the rain fool you, it is still warm and sunny during this season. For both seasons, the temperature is around 90° F. The water is really warm, so boardshorts, rashguards and bikinis are the surfing attire.

  2. I have never been surfing. Is this a surf destination for beginners?
Yes. The main break in Malpais is a gentle rolling wave that is perfect for beginners. We have designed a program to teach you how to surf in a fun, secure environment.

  3. I have surfed for a few years, would this be a surf camp for me?
Our surf camp is for all level of surfers. Malpais has three different types of breaks in the area: point, reef and beach breaks. Depending on your surfing goals and ability, our instructors will design surf instructions to fit your needs.

  4. If I come alone, can I share a room?
Yes, we will match you up with another surf chica. Part of the fun is to meet new friends with similar interests and to share the "pura vida" of surfing.

  5. Can I bring my own board?
Yes you can. I would contact the airline before you leave, because the local airlines have size restrictions and surcharges will apply. We do supply all sizes of boards during your adventure.

  6. What types of exercises should I do before coming on the adventure?
We suggest push-ups, sit-ups, swimming and yoga.
